Hermann Hofgarten | Missouri Wedding
Every wedding has special meaning to me. I never get tired of sharing in this amazing day with the couples I photograph. But, this summer I had the honor of photographing an extra special wedding. It’s still hard to believe, but my sweet little granddaughter Savanah got married!
Being there to capture every moment of her day was so much fun. And, for the most part, I even managed to keep the tears at bay. Well, mostly.
As far as the weather – Savanah & Jared got the best of both worlds. It’s said that rain on your wedding day is good luck. The skies cleared after a rainy morning only to open up for one more downpour just as guests were seated and wedding was ready to begin. However, If you really don’t want rain on your wedding day it is said that hanging rosary beads in your window the night before will keep the rain away. And, Savanah’s rosary apparently worked because the guests ran to take cover for a short 5 minutes followed by clear skies and the outdoor wedding went as planned.
There were so many touching moments throughout the day – heirloom gifts, first look with dad, and that moment when she put on the final touches in her beautiful wedding gown. The personal wedding vows – wow! Yeah – maybe I did shed a tear there
Taking the trolley to the nursing home to visit the residents where Savanah works was a proud moment for me. What a kind, thoughtful and caring young woman to share a part of her wedding day visiting elderly patients who obviously love her so much. It made their day to see her in her wedding dress. Okay – maybe another tear, or two.
The toasts and heartfelt words to both Savanah and Jared during the reception – yep more tears. But, all happy, tears and lots of smiles and laughter. It was just a perfect day.
But the best part of the day by far was to see how incredibly happy Savanah and Jared.
Savanah,
I have watched you grow from a sweet little baby into a beautiful young woman. It makes me so happy to see that you have found someone who obviously loves you as much as you love him. I have never seen your smile as big as it was on your wedding day.
It made me incredibly happy to witness and capture these photos of your wedding day. Wishing you and Jared a lifetime of love and laughter!
