The Fall Equinox was the ideal day for Heather & Matt to begin this new season of their lives together. Heather, a designer and Matt, a gardener are a laid-back outdoorsy couple and it was reflected in every detail of their small, intimate wedding in Michigan Legacy Art Park at Crystal Mountain. It fit them perfectly, just they way they designed it!
Matt was blown away when he got a first look of his bride – she looked amazing! After a few photos on the beautiful grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort, the couple took a golf cart ride up the hill to tuck away for their ceremony. The sun peeked through the tall trees as family and friends gathered for the cozy ceremony officiated by their friend Lara Ruddy.
No detail was overlooked from the beautiful arbor they built with the help of family to the basket of blankets for guests to sit on. They even had a unique way of exchanging their rings. Their mother’s passed the rings through family and friends from the back to the front of the amphitheater. Once they got past a little hiccup to get it started, the rings went straight down the ribbon. Awesome idea!
After the ceremony everyone headed to a cabin along the Betsie River for a party, bonfire and really good time! Matt & Heather had transformed the outdoor setting. No detail was overlooked from the color scheme, to Heather’s card designs, the table settings, lights and potted plants Matt had grown as gifts for each of the guests. Their parents pitched in as well making cake stands, a beautiful wooden bench for guests to sign, and transforming the arbor from the ceremony into a “smile station” for guests photo fun.
The food provided by the MMMM Food Truck was amazing, and there were even cupcake wars. Yep, cupcake wars. As wedding plans were developing the decisions over cupcakes turned into a friendly competition with Heather and Matt each sourcing, designing and figuring out how to display their own set of cupcakes. Guests were invited to choose their favorites without knowing which were Matt’s version and which were Heather’s. I’m not really sure who won, but the cupcake I ate was delicious! I’ll never tell which one I tried 😉
The evening was complete with fun, friends, laughter, and of course s’mores around the bonfire.
Wishing you all the best Heather & Matt – love you guys!
