It is awesome when I get the opportunity to catch up with couples whose wedding I photographed and see how their family has grown. It happened recently on a trip to the St. Louis Missouri area where I caught up with Jessica & Robert. Their wedding was beautiful, unique and suited them perfectly. Even the date was cool – 11/11/11. It was a fairytale day complete with horse and carriage as Robert & Jessica exchanged vows at Hermann Hill Winery.
You could see by the way they interacted and played with the little ones at their wedding that Jessica and Robert loved children. So it warmed my heart to hear their family of two grew to four when they were blessed with adorable twin boys on 4-4-16.
Meeting these sweet little guys was especially heartwarming considering their tough journey.
In Jessica’s words:
“It took Rob and I a while to get pregnant. When we finally did it was a shock to learn there were 2. But, I think for us hitting 2 years old was the biggest feat. The boys were born at 27 weeks gestation, so 3 months early. We were given very scary statistics on their survival prior to birth. They spent 3 months in the NICU and were born at less than 3 pounds. I didn’t even get to hold my babies until they were several days old, because they were so fragile. We are fortunate that they came out with few long term issues. We were told at age 2 they should be just like any other 2 year old. And, well, they are. No one can ever believe their story when they see them.”
The boys just turned two and they definitely are like any other two year olds – all over the place and giggling while their parents try to keep up. ?
It was amazing to see their individual personalities shining thru already at such a young age. Even though they are twins, they are very different in looks and personality. It appears Jessica and Robert each got their own little “mini me”.
Aiden looks more like his mommy – fair skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair.
While Lucas has darker skin, eyes and hair – just like his daddy.
They’re so cute you just want to squeeze them, but good luck – you have to catch them first!
Thank you Robert & Jessica for sharing your beautiful family and journey with me! Your lives are going to be incredibly busy for the next few years, but full of so much joy!
