Dancing is one of my favorite art forms. The lure of dancing is simply irresistible. I owned a dance studio in Missouri for over 15 years, and to this day I can’t listen to music without dancing.
My primary occupation now is photography, but I still love to teach dance occasionally. And one of my absolute favorite things to do is combine my love of these two art forms by photographing dancers. It’s the perfect combination – kind of like peanut butter and chocolate!
I got to enjoy one of those perfect days recently with Abbey. The weather didn’t really cooperate, but she was such a trooper. Between quick shots in the cold drizzles outdoors, we were able to catch a few of a typical day in the life of a young dancer. You see, most dancers don’t walk through life, they move, stretch, leap, and dance!
If you’re every having a rough day – put on some music and dance it out! Whether or not you think you can dance, it doesn’t really matter. Just let yourself go, move with the music, and have a great day!
I’m always looking for dancers to photograph. Contact me to book a one-of-a-kind session in Traverse City, Michigan and surrounding areas. I promise we will have a blast!
